
Sasho Blazes (b. 1980) was born in Ohrid, Macedonia. He moved to Bucharest, Romania in 2001, and received a BA in Fine Arts in 2006 and an MA in Graphic Arts in 2008 from the University of Arts, Bucharest, Romania. In 2022, a solo exhibition of the artist’s work, High in No Man’s Land, was presented at the National Gallery of Macedonia, Skopje. Blazes’ work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions internationally, including at Art Yourself Gallery, Bucharest, Romania (2016); PCB Gallery, Berlin, Germany (2017); the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of North Macedonia, Skopje, North Macedonia (2019); Stross Gallery, Graz, Austria (2023); Abstract Project Gallery, Paris, France (2024); and Blue Gallery, Venice, Italy (2024).
Blazes’ work has also been included in group exhibitions worldwide, such as the Comel Art Prize, Comel Gallery, Latina, Italy (2024); Douro Biennial of Graphic Arts, Douro, Portugal (2023); Artists from the Balkans, Cluj Museum of Art, Cluj, Romania; Macedonian Contemporary Artists – Embassy of North Macedonia, Washington, USA; Macedonian Contemporary Artists – Embassy of North Macedonia, Ottawa, Canada (2019); BIBP Bucharest International Biennale (2016); ARTEXPO 2016 New York; Japan Association for Contemporary Art, Tokyo (2016).
Works by the artist are represented in private collections in Norway, France, Germany, and Italy, as well as in museum collections such as the National Gallery of Macedonia, Skopje, and the National Museum Ohrid, Macedonia.
Since 2009, Blazes has lived and worked in Ohrid, North Macedonia.
